Summary:
This book is a collection of the letters and poems Lonnie, hero of the book Locomotion, writes to his sister Lili, who lives with a different foster parent than Lonnie does. The book is remarkably upbeat while dealing with the family issues that Lonnie and Lili face .

Teaching Ideas:
How is Miss Edna a good foster parent? Compare Locomotion's teachers--Miss Marcus, Ms. Cooper, and Miss Alina. What does Clyde contribute to the story? How does the theme peace, as Locomotion uses it in the final poem, tie the different stories together? This book can be used to help teach letter writing. The book also is a good model of the writing process.
