Summary:
A companion to The Founders, this book tells short 2-3 page stories of the Declaration of Independence and the people who signed it. It is organized by state by state.

Teaching Ideas:
The book lends itself to several classroom teaching strategies. Herringbone would be useful in expanding each of these snapshot stories of the signers of the Declaration of Independence, noting similar elements in the stories like what they were known for, family life, activities, jobs, etc. A matrix or chart could be used to synthesize the comparison of these historical signers, with categoiries such as state, occupation etc... K-W-L could be used to guide reading and further extended inquiry research on a favorite signer.
