Teaching Ideas:
Students can identify and classify the powerful verbs and visual images contained in the poems. Those who know the men's work might want to discuss/ write about the extent to which the poems capture the essence of the way these men play the game. Copy change using stars from other sports would be a natural extension. Pair with _Hoop Queens_ by the same author.
