Summary:
This is a hard book to categorize. The simple text is written like blank verse. The content is basically true. The text focuses on how people around the world celebrate or acknowledge the sunrise.

Teaching Ideas:
Because of its fluid language, this book should be read aloud, used as a choral or echo read. It can also be used as a stepping off into the many picture books or folktales that describe sun worship in other cultures. Map work would be a nice complement, as would further study into the role that nature plays in any of the cultures depicted. Learners might want to select another ordinary event-- changing of the seasons, perhaps, or New Year's Day, and collect different cultures' ways of acknowledging/ celebrating. Baylor and Parnall have teamed on several books e.g Celebration . Learners may want to read them all and characterize their writing and art styles.
